The Junction Pool Right Bank Lower Kinnaird

Here's the famous Junction Pool where the River Tummel greets the River Tay from the right bank. Many salmon lie close in to this right bank and can be easily hooked with a short line after a stealthy approach to the pool. There is no wading requirement on this side of the pool and this is River Tay fly fishing and salmon holding water at its very best.

The Junction Pool Left Bank Lower Kinnaird

Here's the famous Junction Pool where the River Tummel greets the River Tay. This is serious holding water for salmon during lower water conditions. The main taking areas are at the neck of the pool where the riverbed deepens and all the way down to the end of the gravel bank salmon can be caught. This is a dream to swing a fly through !

The Guay Pool Right Bank Lower Kinnaird

Here's the Guay Pool from the right bank. In lower water conditions this classic fly fishing pool fishes well from the neck to the middle section. In higher water the tail of this pool is a superb high water hot spot and easiest covered from this side. There's easy wading from this side and a stealthy approach often produces good results.

The Guay Pool Lower Kinnaird

Here's the Guay Pool from the left bank. This classic fly water pool holds a large head of salmon from April onwards. In lower water conditions the neck and mid section fishes very well especially off this side. During higher water levels salmon are pushed back to the tail of the pool where they can be easily covered from the right bank. This salmon pool is an absolute joy to fish.

The Ash Trees Pool Neck Lower Kinnaird

Here's the neck of the Ash Trees Pool from the right bank. You can clearly see in this video where the shallow stream meets the dark deeper water. This deeper water loads up with salmon and a stealthy fly fished over the edge usually does the trick !! This is salmon fly fishing water at its absolute best.

The Ash Trees Pool Tail Lower Kinnaird

Here's the tail of the famous Ash Trees Pool from the right bank. This perfect fly fishing water holds many salmon all season. The easily waded tail of this pool opposite the end of the wall is simply prolific !!!

Mike's Run Lower Kinnaird

Here's Mike's Run which is part of the Lower Kinnaird beat although it is located on the River Tummel. During low water salmon are caught from the narrow deep fast moving neck all the way down its entire length to the thin water at the tail. There's a lovely lie (boulder) which can be easily covered near the tail where the bulk of salmon are caught from. This is classic fly fishing water.

The New Pool Lower Kinnaird

Here's the New Pool on Lower Kinnaird from the left bank. This amazing fly fishing pool produces salmon approx 40 yards down from the neck for those who don't wade too deep (shins) and also in the last third of the pool at the tail. This is absolute heaven to swing a fly through.

The Island Stream Lower Kinnaird

Here's the Island Stream from the right bank. Many salmon lie in this deep channel at the neck of the pool during low warm water conditions and in high colder water they hold in the slower moving water at the middle to tail of this pool off the left bank.
